I've known Hayate for a few years now and this isn't my first watch from him (the others are all beautiful), but this one is perhaps the most extreme and most heavily distressed piece I've ordered so far. As always, communicating with him was a genuine pleasure. He was warm, responsive and clearly passionate about his craft, and he kept me updated throughout the process. It felt less like placing an order and more like working with an artist on something personal. The amount of hard work and time that has gone into this watch is obvious the moment you hold it. Every handmade element and every bit of distressing is truly unique, and I keep discovering new details each time I look at it, whether that's a mark on the case, a texture on the dial or a subtle bit of wear I hadn't noticed before. It has real character and a story built into it. Even the packaging was special. It was wrapped with traditional techniques and thoughtful details that made unboxing feel like an occasion in itself. You can tell the same care goes into every step, not just the watch. I'd wholeheartedly recommend anyone considering a Katabami watch to reach out to Hayate and order one. You'll end up with a genuinely unique piece, the only one like it in the world.
