◆ About this piece
The First California dial of SHIKAKU "KUROIRO". With my speciality KATABAMI WATCH JAPAN in Japanese vertical writing same as Japanese way. Luminous are nicely vintage aged and hands are heavily aged. This one is AgeYourself so clean outside. You can enjoy ageing by yourself.
You can see by video that this texture has reflection. So face changes mood by angle and light. Such a nice naturally done but presence and impact too.
Highly recommend for you if you like not too much vintage agin but still presence there.
◆ What's California dial?
I think you've seen this half Arabic number and half Roman number dial for vintage watches. One of the widely accepted theory is made by custom dial maker in California. They did redone rolex dial and got popular. Then Rolex made it official and also Panerai used it when they made watch for Italian navy.
◆ About "SHIKAKU"
「 四角 」” Shikaku ” which is “ square ” in Japanese is always fascinating to me since I started thinking about watch. The reason I became a watch enthusiast was LUMINOR & RADIOMIR! When I was 14 years old. I love Italian culture and unique shapes. So those were my dream watch back then.
Let’s get back to the main story which is about this watch “ The Shikaku ”. 42mm diameter sounds big but it’s not. My wrist on picture is only 16.5cm small wrist. But doesn’t feel too big or bothering. Because of well balanced shape and thickness. I really like the view from side.
I choose sapphire crystal for this watch. I know domed plexiglass has more taste. But this type has way bigger crystal than normal watch. That means more chance and possibility of cracks. So I went for domed sapphire crystal for this. You can see my Vintage Aging processes of dial & hand more. So it’s benefit I didn’t know.
◆ About spec
I offer two options. “ AgeYourself ” OR “ FullyAged ” . AgeYourself is only Vintage Aging processes on dial & hands. FullyAged is Vintage Aging processes on whole watch. Japanese craftsman hand build one by one by hand in Amsterdam. Spend 15 hours without waiting time.
