Wakaba-iro is one of those Japanese colors I have always found beautiful.
It is inspired by fresh spring leaves — soft, lively, and calm at the same time. Realised me that summer is coming also.
For this dial, I chose Wakaba-iro as base color. Because I wanted this piece to have that fresh but quiet presence. Something with color and personality, but still refined and calm.
The red accents came from the azaleas blooming in my Japanese garden at my atelier in Kyoto. Seeing those flowers in full bloom against the spring greenery gave me this idea.
I wanted to take that feeling from the garden and bring it into this watch in simple and thoughtful way. Traditional Japanese green, strong touch of red, and a small seasonal scene turned into something wearable.
